Emily Cooper

Writer, Musician, Child at Heart
Peabody, MA
Emily Cooper is a Midwest ex-pat, volunteer farmer, and board member at Newhall Fields Community Farm, a Rotarian, and a community activist who enjoys bringing people together. She is currently a working author, artist, and musician. In 2019 she published her first book—a selection of poems entitled The Heart is a House, and she's now working on a second book of poems and a fantasy fiction novel. She lives in Peabody, Massachusetts with her husband Evan and their dogs, Wendy and Hank. You can find her writing in her home office dubbed "Walden Puddle," eating ice cream, or rallying behind nonprofit CultureHouse to create a free-to-enter public space for community gatherings, play, creativity, and more in downtown Peabody. In all, she works to uplift her community through conversations and programs around poetry and the arts, sustainability, food justice, kindness, and the common good. The poem she's currently obsessed with is, "When Death Comes" by Mary Oliver.
